In the province, you can visit Plasencia, a city with a medieval city center founded in 12th c. Guadalupe is a small town with a monastery where dwells the Virgin of Guadalupe, which was taken to America by many of the conquerors.
The Monfragüe National Park is about one hour by car from Caceres. It is a sanctuary for Mediterranean forest wildlife such as deers, boars, etc. But its main strength lies in its ornithological species. There, you can find several species of vultures, eagles or the very strange black stork.
Another option to spend your time is to visit outstanding natural places are the valleys in the north of the province.
