Flying  to Granada

There are a few international connections to Granada, but it is easier to connect via Madrid or Barcelona. Flying to Malaga is another option, although it is an hour and a half by bus from Granada (about 10 euro).

Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén airport is 18 km from Granada’s city centre. There is a bus service from the airport which takes you to the centre of Granada. Tickets costs 3 euro and the timetable is available on the bus company website.

You should also be able to get a taxi for less than 30 euro, but taxi drivers often try to charge you a higher price, especially if you are foreign. There is an official price list which you should ask the taxi driver for.

Buses

Bus and coach services is one of the cheapest way to travel in Spain. The Estación de Autobuses de Granada, the main bus station, is located at 3 km northwest to the city centre in Carretera de Jaén, s/n (phone +34 958 18 54 80). Most other cities in Andalusia are connected to this station. Principal towns of the coast and villages in the province of Granada  also offer bus services to and from Granada. More information can be found at Granada Intercity Buses. Buses from Madrid take about 5 hours and the ticket costs 16.40 euro. Note that this option may be preferred to the train as it is cheaper and faster.

Trains

Granada Train Station is in the city centre. Granada has train connections from Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and several other Spanish cities. Madrid-Granada is 4.5 hours and costs 67.40 euro one way. Barcelona – Granada is almost 12 hours and costs 61 euro minimum one way. Seville – Granada is 3 hours costs 24.05 euro. For more information, visit the Spanish rail website.

Getting around

Obviously, the best way to visit Granada is on foot, but for longer journeys, the city transport is quite handy. Granada’s inner city bus network is managed by the Transportes Rober company. Single ticket costs 1.20 euro but the company offers the usual discounts, such as travel cards (5 euro for 7 trips). For more information, check out the company website.
